CHICAGO, May 11, 2010 - United Airlines today announced the company was first in on-time performance as measured by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) in the first quarter of 2010, when compared to America’s five largest global carriers*. The first quarter results were published today in the DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report.
United’s overall performance surpassed American, Continental, Delta and US Airways, with 82.5 percent of United’s domestic flights arriving at their destinations within 14 minutes of the scheduled arrival time, a 2.1 point improvement overall versus first quarter 2009.
“These results, coming after our strong performance in 2009, demonstrate United’s commitment to getting our customers where they need to be safely and on time,” said John Tague, president of United Airlines. “This performance reflects our continued focus on providing our customers the quality and reliability they expect.”
March Hub Performance
Separately, United registered strong hub performance in the month of March for flights arriving on time as measured by the DOT. In fact, at each of the airline’s five domestic hubs, United flights arrived within 14 minutes of scheduled arrival times more often than the airline with the next highest number of daily departures.†
