am a Mileage Plus member. Can I redeem miles for non-air travel awards, such as hotel and car rental certificates?
At present only elite members can redeem for non-air travel awards such as hotel stays and car rental certificates.

How do I redeem my miles for a car or hotel certificate?
The transaction can be done only on United.com. You cannot redeem your miles for car or hotel certificates via the Mileage Plus Service Center , the 1K desk or any other United outlet.
When on United.com home page, select “Awards” from the drop down menu on the Mileage Plus tab. Select the award of your choice (car or hotel) and proceed with the transaction.

Can I redeem for multiple certificates in one transaction?
Yes, you can redeem for multiple certificates of the same product in one transaction. (e.g., five certificates for Avis weekend rentals). However, you cannot redeem for multiple certificates of different products in one transaction. (e.g., you would need two separate transactions for two Avis weekend certificates and five Avis weekday certificates).

The certificates will be shipped to the mailing address on your Mileage Plus profile that you confirmed during the redemption processing.

For how long are the certificates valid? When do they expire?

  • Radisson certificates expire on April 30, 2006
  • Marriott certificates expire on July 29, 2006
  • Hertz certificates expire on February 28, 2006
  • Avis certificates expire on December 15, 2005 National and Alamo certificates expire on December 31, 2005

How do I make a reservation with a hotel or a car rental company?
Once you redeem for an award on united.com, an award certificate will be sent to you. Once you receive the certificate, you can make your reservations for a car or hotel stay by referring to the detailed instructions on the actual award certificate.

If you have questions regarding making a reservation with a car or hotel partner, please contact them at the following number:

  • For Avis weekday and weekend certificates please call 800-831-8000.
  • For Hertz weekday and weekend certificates please call 800-654-2210.
  • For National weekday and weekend certificates please call 800-CAR-RENT. Please advise the reservations agent that you will be using the Two Free Days Voucher.
  • For Alamo certificates please call 800-GO-ALAMO. Please advise the reservations agent that you will be using the Two Free Days Voucher.
  • For Radisson North America or Radisson Global certificates please call 800-333-3333. Please ask for “Domestic Voucher Offer” if you have redeemed for the Radisson North America Certificate. Please ask for “Global Voucher Offer” if you have redeemed for the Radisson Global Certificate.
  • For Marriott Americas or Worldwide certificate
    • Marriott Americas : Reservations must be confirmed in advance by calling 800-899-7235 from the United States or 0800 221222 if calling from the United Kingdom . Recipients should advise the reservations agent that they are using a Platinum Anytime Award and that the agent should reference Rate Program:
      • MADN for Marriott Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts or Renaissance Hotels & Resorts
      • MIAT for Residence Inn or TownePlace Suites
      • MIAI for Courtyard or SpringHill Suites
      • MFIA for Fairfield Inn
    • Marriott Worldwide: Reservations must be confirmed in advance by calling 800-899-7235 from the United States or 0800 565666 if calling from the United Kingdom .
