NEW REGULATIONS FROM DIRECCION NACIONAL DE MIGRACIONES FOR ARGENTINA’S CITIZENS

• Bill 31.100/05 – August 1st, 2005: Modification to bill 2895/85 related to the authorizations for Argentinean minors traveling, unaccompanied or accompanied for other people than their parents.

New ways of authorizing travel

1. Public notary, judge or public instrument: this authorization must have the express indication that the authorizing adult is the mother/father of the child, according to the documentation presented upon request.

• When the authorization is valid for a minor traveling unaccompanied, it must comply with the requirements imposed by the carrier.
• When the passenger is a minor fourteen (14) years old or less, it is mandatory that the authorization specifies the destination point of the trip, and the identity of the person who will receive the minor upon arrival.
• When the authorization is for a minor under eighteen (18) years of age traveling with companions over the age of twenty one (21) years who are not his/her parents, it is mandatory to specify the companion’s personal information, address and identification documents, and the destination of the trip.
• The arrival and departure to/from the country of minors under the age of six (6) years, either traveling alone or accompanied by a third person other than his/her parents, must be consigned on a special registration that Dirección de Control Migratorio will keep.

THE AUTHORIZATIONS FOR THE ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE OF MINORS TO/FROM ARGENTINA GIVEN BEFORE THIS MODIFICATION WILL REMAIN VALID UNTIL MARCH 31st, 2006 .
